Ask the Staff #1

When I was a kid, I often imagined how cool it would be to hang out with the characters I saw on TV. My favorite was Jimmy Neutron from Nickelodeon. I thought it would be so cool to take a trip to the moon together, or travel back in time, or go inside a video game. Thinking back on it now, though, I don’t think we would’ve stayed friends for long. At some point, I would’ve gotten sick of his enormous ego, and the constant life-threatening situations he would have put me and everyone else in because of said ego. Still, we would’ve had fun while it lasted.

Nowadays, I still find it fun to imagine stuff like this. I wanted to know if other people felt the same way, so I posed the following question to our staff: Which fictional character would you like to be friends with and why? Do you think it would work it between you two? Here’s what they had to say:

Creelisle from Dragon Slippers. She’s an incredible seamstress and best friends with the rulers of the dragons. I just want to see her embroidery in person and also DRAGONS. I want to be friends with dragons. I think we could be friends. We’re both artistic and I would be a permanent patron at her dress shop.

I would be friends with Penelope Garcia from the show Criminal Minds because I love her character and she seems like she would be a very positive person to have in your life. I do think us being friends would work out.

—DeOnna Clarke, Webmaster

Wonder Woman ’cause it’s Wonder Woman and she’s an icon. I think we could be friends on a name basis.

—Sydney Lykins, Layout Editor

I would love to be friends with Max Caulfield from the video game “Life is Strange”. I feel like the two of us would have a good friendship because of our similar roles in society, minus the supernatural aspects, of course.

Madi Wakefield, Editor-in-Chief

Tony Stark. I’m involved in the sciences so it would be really awesome to see his thought process. His technology is definitely out of this world so that would be pretty awesome. Also I am a pretty funny guy and I think he is as well. Our friendship would totally work out.

—Erik Antonio

Being friends with Fred (in a perfect world where he’s still alive) and George Weasley would have been really interesting, I think, between witnessing their pranks and the relationship with the rest of their family. They could be a little tiring at times, but I feel like it would work out pretty well!

—Allison Killinger

Charlie Kelly from Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia. The entire gang from the TV show is hilarious, but I feel as if I relate to Charlie the most with his humor and creativity. I think I could get away with being friends with Charlie for maybe a day, but after that I’m sure his attention span would end and he would find himself right back with the original group. As for befriending the rest of them, sadly I feel as if my chances are slim to none.
